JHE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE active tone maintained Business was again fairly heavy on the Auckland Stork Exchange yesterday. Levels were steady generally, although a further decline occurred in Zealand Insurances and Auckland Gas. Little change occurred in levels for Government loans, although offers improved for both IP4I 3| per cent issues. The 1940 4 per cent bonds gained os to sell at £lO-3 7s 6d. while the equivalent stock issue was 10s better in dealing at £lO3 10s. Ex dividend, 1955 bonds were done £1 5s lower at £lll 10s, while the 19-55 stock eased only 15s to sell at £lll 15s. Banks showed slight fluctuations. Nationals of New Zealand gained Is 6d over the past two weeks to sell at £'3 9s. New Zealands sold at 49s lOd. a drop of Is en the cum dividend price, and then rose to 49s lid. Reserve Banks eased 6d in a transfer at £6 9s 6d, while New South Wales were unaltered on sale at £3l. A decline of 6d occurred in New Zealand Insurances, which were released at 67s 9d. and a similar fall was registered bv Nationals, which found a buyer at 20s 6c. Auckland Gas were 9d weaker in a transfer at 26s 3d. Consolidated Bricks gained 7d to sell at 9s 4d. but later changed hands at 9s 3d. After selling unchanged at 7s 3d. Farmers' Tradings were- done Id stronger at 7s 4d. Other issues were dealt in at current rates.
