SWIMMING BATH WANTED
PROPOSAL AT PAPATOETOE SUPPORT FOR SCHEME Proposals for the construction of an open-air swimming bath at Papatoetoe were approved at a representative meeting last night. The meeting was convened by the Papatoetoe Chamber of Commerce, and was attended by representatives of the Town Board, school committee and other local bodies and organisations. Mr. R. MeComb, who presided, said the question of devising means of providing a swimming bath had been frequently discussed and it was thought desirable to enlist the support of all sections of the community. The Minister of Internal Affairs had advised some time ago that a grant would be made from art union proceeds on a pound for pound subsidy basis. It had been estimated that a hath could ho provided at a cost of about €9OO. After several suggestions had been discussed a committee was appointed to prepare a comprehensive report on proposals and to submit it to a public meeting. The following were appointed: Messrs. \V. J. Nicholson, A. G. Grinter, 11. MeComb, A. G. M. Ward, N. C. 10. Ernest, F. M. Waters, J. T Dawson, S. Snelling, H. M. Didsbury. P. Skinner, T. K. Smytheman, \V. A. Cairns, H. Wily and W. A. Nesbitt Dr. J. J. Valentine and Dr. D. Gilberd.
