THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL
FLIGHT ABANDONED DEPARTURE SOUTH BY TRAIN As a result of the weather forecast at noon yesterday being unfavourable, arrangements for the Governor-General, Viscount Galway, to fiy to Wellington and back to-day were cancelled. Ac. cordingly. His Excellency left for the South by the limited express last evening. ~ 7
The original plans were for Lord Galway to be flown to Wellington tbii morning in time for a meeting of tha Executive Council, the return -flighi being made in the afternoon. The aero plane, one of the new Vickers Yilde. beest machines, wa,3 to be piloted by Squadron-Leader L. M. Isitt, officer in charge of the Hobsonville air base. The take-off would hare been made from Mangere aerodrome, where the machine would have landed on its return. The flight would have been direct. Its cancellation was -the result of reports that head winds would be encountered all the way south.
His Excellency will arrive in Welling, ton this morning and will leave again by train this evening, returning to Auckland to-morrow morning. In Auckland yesterday, His Excellency, accompanied by Viscountess Galway, inspected the ' St. John Ambulance headquarters in Rutland Street. In the evening. Her Excellent visited the Lyceum Club.
