NORTH AUCKLAND NEWS
Mrs. J. Woollev and Mrs. F. H i<zp;inson were hostesses at a bridge party held at the residence of Mrs. ,T. Wool ley in aid of the funds of tbe Blind Institute. Five tables were engaged in play and the prizes for the highest scorec wp'o Avon by Miss A. lligginson, Messrs. B. Marshall, E. Steele and F. Nutsford. Those present were: —Mrs. J. woolley, Mrs. F. lligginson, Mrs. J. Reid, Mrs. R. Laurie, Mrs. J. Archibald, Mrs. A. J. Murdoch, Mrs. Bruce Marshall, Mrs. Fallon, Mrs. F. Nutsford, Miss A. Higginson. Mrs. D. Goodwin, Mrs. K. Thomson and Mrs. A. H. Crane were hostesses at fa r<'well parties given in honour of Mrs. A. L. Tresidder, who leaves shortly for Nelson, to which place Mr. Tresidder has been transferred as registrar of the Court. Rogret was expressed at the departure of Mrs. Tresidder from Whangarei. Bridge was enjoyed by those present. The University Women's Club of Whangarei held >ts third meeting of the year at the home of Mrs. Lan McKcn/.ie, School Avenue. Mrs. McKenzie reviewed the life of 'Dr.. Little.iolin, of Scots College, Melbourne, and Mrs. P. Basley recounted in a very interesting manner her life and experiences in Italy. Mrs. Sligo and Miss Scarfe were hostesses for the evening. Mrs. J. S. Woolley has returned from a visit to Auckland. Mrs. L. 11 anion, of Nixon Street, has returned from a trout-fishing holiday spent in Turangi. Mrs. F- Carr, of Dargaville, has been spending a few days in Whangarei as tho guest of Mrs. C. R. Powell. Mrs. W. R. J. Moody, of Pukekohe, is spending a short holiday in Whangarei.
