IMPROVED AERODROME
PALMERSTON NORTH SCHEME With a view to making provision at Milson aerodrome, • Palmerston North, for first-class landing facilities suitable for carrying commercial traffic, plnf.s for extensive improvements have been put in hand, and according to the latest advice from the Public Works. Department are now almost completed. It is anticipated that a start will bo made with the work in about a fortnight's time. As in other cases where improvements have been carried out at aerodromes, the undertaking in this case will result in the utilisation of unemployed labour. Hio men will be engaged through the local Labour Bureau, and will be approved for the work by the certifying officer. - ; _ Already the survey of the area of acres, including the block on which the present aerodrome stands, has been completed, and it is estimated that there will be 70,000 to 80,000 cubic yards of spoil to shift in levelling and returfing the ground. Probably activities _wul begin with a party of 50 men, but it is likely that the number will be increased to sopiething like 200 when the wor ® : ' which is expected to occupy at least 12 montha, is well under way*'
