"A RUNAWAY GIRL"
BRIGHT MUSICAL COMEDY Delightful entertainment is provided in " A Runaway Girl," which is being Kesented to large audiences at His ajesty's Theatre, by the Auckland Amateur Operatic Society. There is an infectious atmosphere of gaiety throughout the production, the work of the chorus being particularly bright. The music of Lionel Monekton and Ivan Caryll, composers of so many favourite musical comedies, possesses a romantic freshness not far romoved from that l of Sullivan. Under the capable direction of Major F. H. Lampen, the piece is excellently mounted with bright costumes and scenery. It moves with a good swing from start to finish and. as is customary with the society's productions, the singing is very fine having ample volume and a good balance. Miss Rita MacsCullay gives a viraoious performance in one of the leading roles and receives sound support from Mr. Ernest Snell. Others who give very sound portrayals include Mr. Zante Wood, Mr. G, Colledge. Mr. Douirlas Stark, Mr. Bob Fenwick, Mr. Rex Yates, Miss Ethel Rao, Miss Joyce Wright, Miss Antonia Martinengo and Miss Sybil Phillipps. Booking arrangements ara advertised.
