LIVELY CEREMONY

UNVEILING A STATUE

COLLAPSE OF PLATFORM INCIDENT IN IRELAND By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received June 10, 9.5 p.m.) LONDON, June 10 An eventful Sunday afternoon was spent in Galway in connection with the unveiling of a statue commemorating Padraig O'Conaire, scholar, author and philosopher. The gravity of the proceedings was upset by the discovery that a practical joker, with leanings toward the O'Duffy group, had clad the statue in a blue shirt.

The meeting had barely composed itself when the platform bearing Mr. de Valera and 30 other notable people collapsed and precipitated them in a struggling heap. Nobody was seriously hurt and Mr. de Valera escaped without injury.
