THE AUCKLAND EXCHANGE FALL IN INSURANCES A further fall in South British and New Zealand Insurances marked operations on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, while a sharp drop also occurred in Northern Steams. Government loans generally were steady, but offers were a shade firmer for the 3} per cent stock. The only sale was in 4" per cent stock, unchanged, at £ll2 15s. Holders of bank shares showed a

fiimer tone, but buyers' levels were -steady. Commercials gained 2d in a transaction at los 2d, while the only other business was in New Zealands, unchanged, at 50s lOd. Trading in the insurance section was heavier than for some time. New Zealands eased 6d to sell twice at 69s 6d, and more wore available at this price, but buyers did not operate. South British dropped Is 3d to sell at 95s 6d, while Standards were unaltered in dealing at 72s 6d. Renown Collieries had sale unaltered at 10s, but' Taupiris were done 4d easier at 16s Sd. Northern Steams fell 9d to sell at 6s 6d, while Devonport Ferries were traded at the current rate, 22s 9d. Gisborne Gas sold for the first time since last August at 12s, an unaltered figure. The B preference issue of Fanners' Tradings was transferred twice at 14s, a fall of Is. Levels hardened for New Zealand Newspapers, but a sale at 39s * shqwed a decline of 3d. Woolworths (N-Z.) were taken Is better at £ll 2s 6d.
