AMERICAN SENATE AGITATION OVER PRICE (Received June 9, 5.5 p.m.) WASHINGTON. June 8 The Democrat member of the Senate for Reno, Mr. P. A. McCarran, has called a meeting of the Senate's silver bloc for Monday to press a proposal to raise silver to 1 dollar 29 cents an ounce. Also Mr. McCarran desires to combat rumours abroad to the effect that the United States Government is about to abandon its silver purchase programme and to combat also the unwarranted drop in the market price.
