ATHENIAN CLUB
NIGHT IN THE TRENCHES The fortnightly social of the Athenian Club was held in the Auckland Amateur Operatic Society's hall on Saturday evening. The proceedings depicted war reminiscences from 1914-18, and the stage represented a dug-out. The guests were received by the chairman for the evening, Mr. A. Don, and Mrs. Don, the latter wearing a frock of black georgette relieved with diamante. The following rendered items: —Mrs. J. Poole, elocution; Miss Freda Stark, tap dancing; Mrs. Freda Crosher and Mr. ISric Middleton, a sketch; Mr. Stan Pritchard,. a solo. A play entitled " Reminiscences of 1914-1918 " was given by Mr. Douglas Stark, Mr. Stan Asquith, Mr. John Smith, 31 r. Beg. Fowler, Mr. Eric Middleton, Miss Bay Jury and Mr. Peter Franchi. Among those present were:—Mrs. A. Roberts. Mrs/ H. Wilkins, Mrs*. Clifton Lewis, Mrs. W. S. Spence. Mrs. T. Gray, Mrs. A. N. Young, Mis. Hilda Gilmore, Mrs. C. R. Howard, Mrs. A. E. Hough, Mrs. Tj A.
