AERO COMPETITION

TROPHY FOR FORMATION Members of the* Auckland Aero Club coftipotod for the Thorne Trophy for formation flying at the Mangero aerodrome on Saturday afternoon. Although the weather was not good, the diisplay was a creditable one. Pilots were in teams of three and after taking off in formation they carried out various manoeuvres in formation and finally landed in formation. Mr. P. Lusk, a former Royal Air Force officer, acted as judge.

Results were Messrs. G. M. Owen (leader), P. C„ Lewis and A. Breckon, 1; Messrs. R. Q. Tappenden (leader), K. Robinson and A. F. McGruer, 2.
