MEDICAL FEES
Sir, —I hare been interested .in the above correspondence, but -with little thought of taking part in the same, until my attention was called to an account just rendered for medical advice. It is quite evident your correspondents have been discussing charges made iu the city areas. The case X am going to quote is common practice charges to country settlers, and amounts to over five times the fee paid for a visit by :i practitioner in the city, the total for five short-time visits amounting to £l2 12s. In this case the distance from the consulting rooms was 10 miles by a flat, tarsealed road. no doubt has some bearing on the subject. However i will leave your readers to form their own conclusion as to a fair charge for the use of a practitioner's car, driven by himself, over the best of roads, and probably making other calls on th* way.
