CLEM DAWE REVUE
A MEMORABLE FAREWELL A memorable farewell was accorded to the Clem Dawe Revue Company by an audience which packed His Majesty's Theatre to the doors on Saturday night. The company, which has now been over n year in New Zealand, and which, in all, has' played for nearly half that time in Auckland, presented a request programme, and there was no doubting the enthusiasm with which it was received. At the conclusion of the entertainment, from a stage laden with bouquets and presents and covered with coloured streamers thrown .from ever)' part of the theatre, Mr. Eric Edgley and Mr. Dawe returned thanks for the support they had received from Auckland theatregoers. All members of the company, they said, regarded Auckland almost as a second home and Auckland audiences a« friends whom it was a pleasure to entertain. Mr. Joe Shriner then referred to the presence of one whom they regarded as the captain of their company: —the mother of Mr. Dawe. Mi*. Edgley, Mr. Les. White and Miss Dorothy White —Mrs. White. Mrs. White, who first appeared on the stage at the age of three, and is now 73, was seated in the stalls, she was conducted on to the stage to receive the applause of the audience. Cheers were given by the audience, which, with tho players, finally joined in the singing of "Auld Lang Syne." Before his departure yesterday Mr. Dawe received a private letter from the Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis, thanking him and members of his company for their efforts on behalf of charity in Auckland. The company will play short seasons in Taranaki and Wellington before leaving for Australia and England.
