THE WHANGAREI SOCIETY [by telegraph—OWN correspondent} WHANGAREI, Friday A satisfactory year of progress was revealed at the annual meeting of tho Whangarei Horticultural Society, held last evening, when Mr. C. V. Stringer presided over a good attendance. In his annual report the president said two shows had been held during the year, both being financiaf successes, but the attendances were not up to expectations. The standard of exhibits at both, shows had greatly improved. The bal- , anoe-sbeet showed a credit balance of £ls. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr. C. V. Stringer; vice-president, Mr. W. A. Given; secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. A. Brown; committee, Mrs. R. S. Finch, Mrs. R. Lindesay, Messrs. D. McDonald, R. Timewell, D. Blumhardt-, R. C. M. Harington, P. Woodman and Webster.
