MARINE INVENTION

CARGO STRESS FINDER [BY TELEGRAPH PRESS ASSOCIATION"J WELLINGTON. Tuesday During a visit to Great Britain Captain A. Lansley, who was Marine Department surveyor of ships at Dunedin, placed his invention of a cargo stress finder. It has been taken up by Kelvin, Bottomley and Baird, of Glasgow. For his invention Captain Lansley received the highest award of the Royal Society of Arts under the Thomas Gray Memorial Trust for 1934. Under tins trust awards are made each year for the best invention by seamen. IberP were 33 entries last year. Captain Lansley returned bv the Hemnera yesterday, accompanied by bis wife and family, and he is to take up the position of surveyor of ships at Lyttelton.
