INDIAN HOCKEY TEAM
FIRST MATCH TO-DAY DEPARTURE FOR DANNEVIRKE [BT TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON. Tuesday The Indian hockey team left Wellington this morning for Dannevirke, where the first match of the tour will be played to-morrow. The team practised yesterday at Karori Park, and spectators were treated to an amazing exhibition of ball control. Members of the party were received at Government House by the GovernorGeneral, Viscount Galway, during the afternoon, and the team also placed a wreath on the Wellington Citizens • War Memorial.
MATCH AGAINST WAIPA
ARRANGEMENTS COMPLETED [from our own correspondent] TE AWAMUTU. Tuesday The Waipa Hockey Association has received advice from the *New Zealand Hockev Association that the Indian team will play the Waipa representatives at Te Awamutu on July 11. Previouslv the match was declined owing to difficulty in arranging for a guarantee. Satisfactory arrangements have since been made in this respect, and the match is expected to prove a notable attraction. Nine years ago, the Indian Armv team opened its tour with a match against Waipa.
