NOVEL STREET APPEAL PROCESSION IN CITY COMMERCIAL TRAVELLERS A novel street collection in aid of tho Mayor's crippled children fund will bo held by tho Commercial Travellers and Warehousemen's Club on Friday. Instead of tho usual apixuil in the strcots, a concert party in fancy-dress will drive round tho city. This type of collection has not been used for many years and it is hoped that the public will respond freely. About fivo motor-lorries will be used and an orchestra from Saigood, Son, and Ewen, Limited, will load tho procession, the collectors being in fancydress. The collection will commence at 10 a.m., when tho party will drive round High Street, Albert Street and other streets near the city. About midday they will drive up Queen Street and from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. will be assisted by artists from tho Clem Da wo lievue Company. In tho afternoon the party will drive through Karangahapo Koad and Symonds Street A "monster joy night" will be held' by tho club in the Town Hall on Tuesday night, when the collection will again bo in aid of the Mayor's fund. The club's choir will render several items and many leading artists have promised their services. HOME NEAR THAMES ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF OFFER v [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] THAMES. Tuesday The offer of 2J acres of land and a 10-roomed house at Parawai, near Thames, as a. home for crippled children, mado by Mr. F. H. Claxton, was acknowledged in a letter from Mr. C. B. Norwood, received at a meeting of the Thames Hospital Board, through which the offer was made. On behalf of the trustees of tho Crippled Children's Fund, Mr. Norwood stated that the trust appreciated very sincerely the spirit prompting the offer. The central executive committee was busy on policy matters and would consider the offer at its next meeting. Limited finance at the disposal of the trust; would not permit it to do more than co-operate in tho greatest degree with hospital boards throughout the Dominion.

The letter was received, and further action was deferred pending the decision of the trustees.
