LIQUOR LAW BREACHES
FINES TOTALLING £35 SALESMAN IN "DRY" AREA [by telegraph —OWN correspondent] TAUMARUNUI, Friday Charges of keeping liquor for sale, selling liquor, soliciting orders' and supplying a native in a proclaimed area, were preferred agftinst George Peat in the Taumarunui Police Court yesterday. , It yas stated that a constable watched defendant and caught him in the act of selling lo a native a bottlo of, wine. Defendant described himself as a salesman for a To Kauwhata wine grower, taking orders in Rotorua, Taupo, and the King Country on a commission of 3s a case. I'he wine was 17 per cent proof spirit. Defendant was convicted on all charges and fined a total of £35, with costs, 295.
