ELECTION OF ASSESSOR

CONTEST IN HAMILTON [ FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT] HAMILTON, Wednesday Unusual interest was taken in the election to-day of an assessor to act for the Hamilton Borough Council at Assessment Court sittings. Usually there is no election and Mr. G. Boyes has been returned unopposed for some years. Three candidates were nominated and the election resulted: —G. Boyes, 11.') votes; C. E. Shakshaft, 14 votes; F. J. Mat-fell, 13 votes. „ Mr. Boyea was declared elected.
