GENEROUS PARISHIONERS ST. PETER'S, HAMILTON SUPPORT DURING PAST YEAR [rttoM our own correspondent] HAMILTON, Wednesday ' " The generosity of our church people has been phenomenal," said Bishop C. A. Cherrington, nt the annual meeting of St. Peter's parishioners last evening. The dean, the Very Rev. T. P. Weatherhog, presided over an attendance of 60 people. Bishop Chcrrington said the financial, support given was a very real criterion of the spiritual life of the church. The queen carnival was a pronounced success, and assistance had been given to St. George's, Frank ton, and St. Mary's, Gordonton. Payments had been made on the cathedral clock and the debt at Hamilton East had been reduced. Improvements were effected to the cathedral, and missionary boxes returned over £IOO. Many gifts were received. The revenue totalled £IOOB, and £173 was given to missions. The election of officers resulted: Dean's warden, Mr. A. B. Whyte; people's warden, Mr. F. B. Hall; lesser chapter, Messrs. C. F. E. Barton, F. H. Clapham, A. C. Dimmock, 11. English, H. S. Innes-Jones, L. V, Judd, J. T. Roid, S. E. Senior, E. L. Watkins and G. Wheeler; synod representatives, Messrs. H. G. Sergei and F. H. Clapham. ST. ANDREW'S, CAMBRIDGE "FINANCES ON SOUND BASIS" [by TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] CAMBRIDGE, Wednesday At the annual meeting of parishioners of St. Andrew's, Cambridge, last evening it was stated that the finances of the parish were now on a sound basis. The balance-sheet showed a gross income of £756 lor the eleven months ended March 31, and in view of the heavy extraordinary expenditure during this period the position was considered hig,hly satisfactory. A campaign to clear off the debt of £450 by the end of the year was inaugurated by the vicar, the Rev. C. W. Chandler, £75 being subscribed by the parishioners present. Officers were elected as follows: Vicar's warden, Mr. C. W. Boyce; people's warden, Mr. H. Watkins; vestry, Messrs. W. Sands, O. V. Simpson. J. Linslev, A. Holmes, A. Main, A. D. Savers, T. Dix, A. W. 6. Pearce, H. D. Dallimore, and J. Anderson; treasurer, Mr. H. I). Dallimore; auditor. Mr. T. H. Hampshire; sidesmen, Messrs. H. G. Rowe, T. Dix, S. Buttimore and A. Holmes. PROGRESS AT TE AWAMUTU FINANCIAL IMPROVEMENT [from our own correspondent] TE AWAMUTU, Wednesday Over 100 people attended the annual meeting of parishioners of Te A'wamutu parish last evening. The vicar, the Rev. S. R. Wareing, presided. All reports showed distinctly creditable progress. A deficit of £ll9 had been converted to a small credit balance in the year. This is the 101st year of the parish About £2OO is available from the surplus centenary funds for the reconditioning of St. John's (Te and St. Paul's (Hairini), and these works will be put in hand as soon as possible. It was stated that the credit balance this year marks the first occasion in 35 years that a year has ended with a credit balance. The election of officers resulted: — People's warden, Mr. J. T. North; vicar's warden, Mr. H. A Swarbrick; vestry, Messrs. J. Bent, J. G. Wynvard, H. Steer, G. 0. Jourdain and A. Todd (town), C. F. Storey (Hairini), C. Graham (Paterangi), H. Focke (Te Rahu), J. Parr (Ngaroto) and T. Steel (Pirongia); diocesan synodsmen, Messrs. Swarbrick and J. G. Wvnvard; rural deanery board representatives, Messrs. D. Storey, A. Todd and 11. Jones. The vicar announced that a delegation of the Church Army Mission at present visiting the Dominion would visit Te Awamutu this month. MEETING AT TE AROHA CHURCH FUNDS IN CREDIT [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] TE AROHA, Wednesday The annual meeting of parishioners of St. Mark's, Te Aroha, was held last night, Canon C. W. Turner presiding. The balance-sheet showed a credit of £167. It was stated in tho report that during the year the church had benefited by a legacy of £2OO from the late Mr. Henry Holmes. Tho vestry had decided to place a memorial in the church to the memory of Mr. Holmes. The election of officers resulted as follows: —Vicar's warden, Mr. F. R. Marx; people's warden, Mr. J. Heathcote; vestry, Messrs. A. F. Burton, J. Caton, F. M. Strange, P. Gilchrist, jun., F. W. Wild, G. Cornish, F. T. Halligan, A. L. Vickers, H. Robertson and C. Ringsley Smith; synodsmen, Messrs. A. F. Burton and F. R. Marx; Rural Deanery Board representatives, Messrs. F. M. Strange, A. F. Burton and A. L. Vickers. , A recommendation was passed that the vestry increase the vicar's stipend to the original amount paid before the cut was imposed.
