ONE TREE HILL AFFAIRS
CONFIDENCE IN COUNCIL "It is very gratifying to realise that such confidence is reposed in us by the ratepayers," said the Mayor, Mr. I. J. Goldstine, at last night's mooting of the One Tree Mill Borough Council, when referring to the fact that for a second term the whole council had been returned unopposed. "1 believe that this council will continue its previous policy of carrying out as extensive a scheme o/ public works as possible, at the same time keeping rates at as low a level as possible," said Mr. Goldstine. The ratepayers had saved a considerable sum of money by not having an election, continued Mr. Goldstine. Every effort would be made by the council to justify the confidence placed in it. It was decided to decline the application of the Dominion Brace Company for a permit to erect, a "garden" type of factory in Puriri Avenue. The matter had come before the last meeting of the council and it had been decided to ascertain the feelings of residents in the vicinity. The opinion in the district was definitely that the erection of a factory was not in the best interests of the residents.
