UNSETTLED, RAINY AND COLD The Government meteorologist issued to the Hebald last evening the following special forecast for the Auckland Province: —Moderate to strong northerly winds changing to south-westerly within about 24 hours. The weather will be unsettled and rain is probable. Temperatures are becoming cold. Seas rough cm the west coast, and moderate to rather rough on the east coast. YESTERDAY'S WEATHER Auckland.—There was a continuation. C'f fine weather yesterday., but the conditions were again cloudy and threat<ning, and a freshening wind was blowing from the north-west. The barometer was falling steadily all day, the fall for the 24 hours being .40in. The temperature was mild, the thermometer registering 67 degrees at 4 p.m. Barometer, midnight, falling .. 53,55 in, Midnight, Tuesday .. ~ 2fi.SSin. Wellington.—A few light showers fell during the morning. The weather throughout the day was mild, cloudy and threatening with a strong squally north-westerly ivind. The maximum temperature was 61 degrees. Christchureh.—The weather was fine and mild in the morning when a moderate north-easterly breeze was blowing. There was a heavy shower of rain during the afternoon. The barometer fell sharply and registered 29.27 in. at 'i p.m. Dunedin.—The weather was overcast, cold and unsettled yesterday. A light north-easterly breeze was blowing and the maximum temperature was 57 degrees. The barometer, fell rapidly during the day, the drop from midnight;on Tuesday to 3 p.m. being CO points.
