MAORI RUGBY PLAYERS
CO-OPERATION OF UNIONS COMMITTEE REPRESENTATION [BV TELKGRAPH- —PRKSB ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Wednesday With tlie object of establishing a " closer union between Maori and Euroi pean Rugby players, a conference was | held to-day between members of the j New Zealand Union and representatives | of the native districts. It was decided that a member of the Maoris race should be added to the management committee of each union and sub-union carrying a large Maori population, or a reasonable number of Maori players. All matches confined to Maon players will be under the jurisdiction of the unions concerned except the Prince of Wales Cup, which will be controlled by the New Zealand Union. Four Maori selectors, one from each Maori district, will be appointed to select their teams from the nominations of the official selectors. It was decided that the North v. South Maori trial match would be a trial game for the Maori team touring Australia this year. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Rugby Union will lie held tomorrow.
