MINING LEASES
WESTERN AUSTRALIA 0 JAPANESE BARRED LONDON. April 14 The Agent-General for Western Australia, Sir Hal Colebatcli, in a letter to the press, states that the Western Australian Mining Act makes it impossible for any Japanese syndicate to hold or have an interest in mining leases in that State. Japanese interests have been negotiating for the purchase of the Yampi iron ore from the Australian holders of the leases, but now arc negotiating with a British company. So far the Western Australian Government's efforts to induce British interests to assist in the development of the deposits have been unsuccessful.
