1 DEATH OF A SHEARER

HIVES IN THE BUSH

It is believed that a bee sting, which .Was followed by a swelling of the throat and choking,, caused the death of.Ambrose George McKander, aged 46, shearer and carrier, of Yass, New South Wales, who died while being driven in a motor-truck to a doctor lately. * Mr. McKander, his two sons, and Gordon Charles Cooper, left town in the evening about seven o'clock to rob some wild bees' hives they had found. iThey robbed one hive and Mr. McKander and his sons sampled the honeycomb. It is thought that there was a bee in the honeycomb that Mr. McKander ate, and that it stung him on the inside of his throat.

The party chopped down another tree and had almost completed robbing a second hive when Mr. McKander said be felt ill. His condition became wors9, and Mr. Cooper' put him in the lorrv and drove him to town. It is believed that he died from choking. Mr. McKander was a strong, vigorous man, and had 'spent the day working in a timber yard.
