WESTFI ELD QUOTATIONS YARDINGS BELOW AVERAGE Small yardings of store and dairy cattle were offered at the Westfield weekly stock sale yesterdav. The numbers forward were far below average, while the quality was also indifferent, there •being few animals of special quality. The top prices receded considerably from the linn values of recent weeks, but general values were maintained. The best realisation was just over £5 for Shorthorn heifers of fair quality. Other heifers of the same breed and Jersey heifers sold fairly well at values somewhat lower. The store cattle section was very small and there was little activity in the boner classes. In the pig section very few baconers and porkers were yarded owing to the holiday intervening. Friday At tho Mntawhero sale to-day the beef entry consisted mostly of partly-finished Jerseys, which made up to £1 7s. Prime heavy Jersey cows made £2 13s; medium Hereford cows, £2 14s; station cows, in good forward condition, £2 4s. There was an entry of 163 fat sheep, which were in short supply. Ewes ranged from 14s to 14s Cd: wethers, 17s 6d to 19s 6d; lambs. 13s Id. There was only a small yarding of store sheep. The tone throughout was slack and a general tendency was for prices to be easier. Breeding ewes made to 20s Id for two-tooths; 18s 2d for two-tooths and five-year mixed; 18s for four, six and eight-tooths: and 14s to 16s for fair to good mouths. A line of 700 wethers, fat, although not a prime attractive lot, made 18s 4d. Otiher good two-tooths made 17s 4d to 17s 9d, while good lines of lambs ranged from 12s 6d to 13s.
