HUSBAND CHARGED

WIFE ALLEGES ASSAULT "ONE OF THE RADIO WEDDINGS" A boilermaker, Thomas Edward Martin, aged 29 (Mr. Aekins), appeared before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court yesterday, on a charge of assaulting Ruth Margaret Martin, his wife, on Thursday. Sub-Inspector Fox, who asked for a remand until Tuesday, said complainant was at present receiving hospital treatment. According to her story she was occupied in ironing when accused ran the iron up an arm, burning her severely. It was further alleged that he punched her. Counsel said the allegation was denied, and added that the marriage of accused and complainant in March was " one of the radio weddings." Apparently it had not been very successful, counsel commented. ______ Tho remand was granted.
