BRITISH TRADE FAIR

| DOMINION AND CHINA In connection with the British Trade Fair which is to be held in Hongkong in December, lO.'Jo, it has been suggested that an immense amount of propaganda work for New Zealand could bo done if a delegation of women from this country went to China on a goodwill mission. It has been pointed out that few markets hold such potentialities as that of China and its westernisation is a factor of primo importance in the world to-day. The women of China are very wide awake. It is safe" to say that their emancipation,- swift though it has been, is in many ways more complete than that of their western sisters. But the East and West, though coming inevitably closer together through modern facilities in transport and news service, are still too far apart on the plane of friendship for any real understanding to have been reached yet. For this reason the organisers of the British Empire and China trade

Fair -are doing all in their power to rouse the interest and co-operation of women from all parts of the Empire

in its aims and objects. It is hoped to arrange a conference at which friendly discussions may take place, and at which women from overseas may meet the Chinese women and so learn to understand each other. Such links should be of the greatest importance to each country.
