TANEATUA RAILWAY
INSPECTION BY BOARD INFORMAL DISCUSSIONS [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] TAURANGA, Saturday Advice has been received by the Mayor of Tauranga, Mr. A. F. Tunks, from the general manager of railways, Mr. G. H. Mackley, that the members of the Railways Board will pay a visit of inspection to the Paeroa-Taneatua branch railway line 011 May 2. They will reach Tauranga by train at 12.11 p.m. and leave at 1.10 p.m. for Taneatua, returning to Tauranga the same afternoon. The party will leave Tauranga at 8.30 a.m. the next day for Frankton Junction, where they will join the express for Wellington.
In his letter Mr. Mackley states: "The purpose of the board is to carry out a general inspection of the line and to acquaint itself with any local feature that may be relevant to its operating. The board does not desire any public functions associated with its visit, but it will be willing, where desired, and as time may permit, to meet representatives of local bodies and informally discuss any matters which it might be desired to represent."
