HOUSES FROM RUBBISH
GERMAN CHEMIST'S CLAIM FIRE-RESISTING SHEETING LONDON, April 16 Under the heading: "Houses from Rubbish," Berlin newspapers announce the claim of Dr. Aretz, a chemist, that he has invented from rubbish left lying on wasteland a sheeting which possesses fire-resisting and insulating properties and which is cheaper than existing products. It is stated that the invention, says the Berlin correspondent ot' the Times, is specially important, in so far as it helps in solving the raw material problem. The emphasis laid upon it, in common with all reported discoveries of substitutes, recalls Germany's increasing difficulties in obtaining raw materials from abroad, proving that the barter system is inadequate.
