MR. CARTER'S EXCAVATIONS EGYPT IMPOSES CONDITION LONDON, April 12 The News Chronicle states that the Egyptian Government has refused to allow Mr. Howard Carter, the famous Egyptologist, who is now in Britain planning a further expedition to the ancient necropolis at Luxor, to continue his excavations. The work, however, could be done by the same man under the same conditions if ho were employed by a scientific society, which would not bo subject to these restrictions. The refusal applies only to Mr. Carter operating as a private individual.
