ITALY ANI) ABYSSINIA CONCILIATION IN DISPUTE AGREEMENT ANNOUNCED ETHIOPIANS' WAR MEASURES By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received April 14, 6.35 p.m.) LONDON, April 13 A message from Stresa states that Italy and Abyssinia have agreed to submit their dispute to a Committee of Conciliation. A despatch from Addis Ababa says the Emperor of Ethiopia (Abyssinia) in his speech from the throne in proroguing Parliament announced the adoption of conscription and the organisation of the entire population—males and females —for war. Everybody would be taxed for the equipment of the army.
The Emperor added that in future the penalty for treason would be death. According to Abyssinia's ancient law book traitors could be burned alive.
