NEW CRICKET RULE

DIRECT ATTACK BOWLING UMPIRES' POWER TO STOP LONDON, March 18 The Marylebone Cricket Club has sent a circular to umpires detailing : l-9 method of dealing with bodyline bowling on the lines recommended by the meeting of first-class umpires on March 5. The club states in the circular tliafc umpires will be strongly supported by it in any action they may take under law 43 to prevent the practice of a direct attack on a batsman who is standing clear of the wicket. Umpires are reminded that it is their- duty to report forthwith to the secretary of the Marylebone Club any case, on or off the field, of a captain or player criticising or showing resentment at an umpire's decision. The umpire 'must, however, notify captains during the match of his intention to report an incident.
