DELAYS TO SHIPPING
HEAVY SEAS RUNNING SMALL VESSELS PUT BACK Coastal shipping was considerablyaffected by the high wind and rain yesterday. Last night the wind increased to gale force from the east, and several small craft, Including the Pono, which was bound for Kerepeehi, and the Motiti and Coronation, which were to have sailed for Warkworth and Northern ports respectively, put back to harbour. The Rangitoto had not returned from the Great Barrier early this morning and it is understood she is sheltering there until the -weather moderates. The Union Company's steamer Wai- ( marino, which was scheduled to sail for Southern ports yesterday, was unable to complete loading owing to the rain, and will now sail this morning, while the Hokianga was prevented from leaving Oneliunga last evening for Hokianga, owing to cargo work being delayed. When last reported three Northern Company vessels, the Paroto, loa and Waiotahi, outward bound for East Coast ports, were still sheltering on the Coromandel Peninsula.
