IMPROVES MAFEKING FINISHES STRONGLY SPRINT BY EXAGGERATION [by tjslkorapji—own correspondent] PAEROA, Thursday Weather conditions were anything but favourable for work on the Paeroa track this morning and rain was falling while vt'ork was being carried out. Tho track was heavy. All fast work was done on tho outside -of the course proper. Gay Egypt, Hymel and Grand Talk ran five and a-half furlongs from a standing start in 1.13 2-5. They finished in tho order named. Hymel gave a greatly improved display. ■ '«■' .Mr. V, T . Gloucester finished a couple of lengths in front of Lilbcrl at the end of half a mile in 53 3-ss. Royal Artist, with Cynara to assist over the first, half-mile in 51s, completed five fu:rlongs in 1.5. Adalene was slightly in front of Astarth and Sinking Fund at the end of half tt mila in 51a, Sinking Fund continuing on to complete six furlongs in 1.16. Royal Secret covered six furlongs in 1.17 1-15. Mustang, who is engaged at.Opotiki, ran five furlongs in 1.5 1-5. King Ara (Tremain) ran four furlongs in 51b. Don't Lap went half a mile on the plough in 545. Our Bonnie, bandaged on the off fore-leg, and moving short, traversed two circuits on the same track. Routine Flush, who leaves for Opotiki on Sunday, ran six furlongs Jn 1.19 1-6-Puri:ri Park and Mazir were two lengths in front of Rona Bay at the end of four furlongs in 625. Tin Lap and King Flight did pace-work.
