iTHE AOCKLAND EXCHANGE _ QUIET TONE CONTINUES The (juiot tone continued in tho investment market on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday, the turnover being the smallest for some days. There was no general improvement iti levels, although some of the New Zealand industrials were firmer. Support for Government loans was easier, offers for the 4 per cent stocks dropping all round by ss. No business was recorded. Tho market for banks also was infictive. Offers for j\ew Zealands were 3d lower at 48s lOd, but no concession was made by holders. Inquiry for Reservo Banks was firmer, buyers lifting their limits by 9d to £6 10s 3d. Unions also had better support, but for most Australian '/issues there was a further decline in buying levels. New Zealand Insurance, shares were taken unchanged at 68s and South British 3d lower at 93s 9d. Subsequently quotations strengthened for both issues. Concessions were made by holders of {Nationals and Queenslands. In loan and agency, Guarantee Corporations s6ld again at 5s lOd. R&iown Coals advanced, a parcel changing hands 5d higher at 8s 3d. The preference issue sold unchanged at 2s 4d. There was a rise in Farmers' Trading, the ordinary shares selling 2d dearer at 7s 4d and the B preference 9d higher at 15s. Bycrofts were done at 50s 9d, a gain of 3d. New Zealand Newspapers dropped sharply, there being a transfer Is 3d lower at 31s 6d.
