LOWER VALUATION
MOUNT ALBERT BOROUGH REDUCTION IN DRAINAGE LEVY Its rateable capital value having been reduced nearly 25 per cent by a revaluation last year, Mount Albert Borough will pay a substantially lowe* levy to tho Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board for 1935-38 than it did for 1934-35. A return provided by tho Valuation Department and laid before the Drainago Board at its meeting yesterday showed the following rateable capital values for tho areas of the board's district under the control of tho various local authorities at March 31 of tho two years mentioned:— Latest Ite--1033 1031 vision Auckland City £47,75(1,887 £47,984,409 Mt. Eden .. 5,683,508 5,570,947 1025 Mt. Albert .. 5.103,0(18 3,954,804 1934 Newmarket; .. 1,030,944 1,624,204 192.j One, Tree Hill 2,572.099 2,580,008 1929 Mt. Roskill .. 389.030 392,029 1024 Totals .. £03,101,130 £02,112,151 The Taniaki area of Auckland City was revalued in 192(5. Pnrtiell, Archhill. Eden Terrace, Point Chevalier and Epsom were dealt with in 1925; Avondale and Remuera in 1924; Grey Lynn in 1923; the original city area in 1922, and Orakei in 1920. At yesterday's meeting members of the board jokingly congratulated the Mayor of Mount Albert, Mr. R. TTornor, on his borough's temporary good fortune.
