OBITUARY
PROFESSOR MICHAEL PUPIN (Received March 13, 5.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, March 12 The death has occurred of Professor Michael Pupin, Emeritus professor, Columbia University. He had an international reputation. The late Professor Pupin was born in Yugoslavia in October, ISSB, He was assistant teacher of electric engineering at Columbia University, 1889-90; instructor in mathematics and physics, 1890-92; professor of mechanics, 18921901; and professor of electro- mechanics, 1901-31. He was a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and its president, 1925-26, and member of various other scientific bodies and of the executive committee of the National Research Council. He was awarded the Washington Medal for engineering in 1928.
