LONDON COUNTY RECEPTION rHE THANKSGIVING SERVICE British "Wireless RUGBY, March 10 The London County Council is to give a reception . in honour of the King's silver jubilee on the evening of May 31 at the County Hall, Westminster. The reception will be attended ' by the King and Queen. The Bishop of Norwich, Dr. Bertram Pollock, who will preside at the Albert Hall thanksgiving service, in connection with the King's silver jubilee, on May 8, has written an Empire appeal, which has been translated into all Empire languages for the holding of similar services. It refers to the King's difficult quarter of a century, and adds: "It is everything for the Empire that Their Majesties' own family life and ideals are within the rango of high and low, rich and poor." PRINCESS ELIZABETH EMPIRE BROADCAST PLAN SPECIAL CHILDREN'S HOUR LONDON, March 4 Consideration is being given to a suggestion that Princess Elizabeth of York shall broadcast throughout the Empire during a special children's hour in the King's silver jubilee week. It is felt that the historic occasion would live in their memories if the people of the Empire heard the voice of His Majesty's senior grandchild. It has been decided not to crowd the whole of the jubilee broadcasting into one week, but to spread the important items over three months, including historical reconstructions, one of which will represent " 200 years of Downing Street." The Prime Minister, Mr. Mac Donald, probably will take part in this broadcast. INDIAN BOY SCOUTS UNIQUE CELEBRATION LONG TREK WITH MESSAGES ' CALCUTTA, March 10 About 50,000 hoy scouts in the Punjab Province are planning a unique celebration of the King's silver jubilee. The Scouts will assemble at their respective headquarters, and 1000 picked youths from five provincial divisions will carry loyal greetings in mile relays to Lahore from the most remote areas. The most arduous trek will be from Kylang, in Ladakh, where the runners will have to cross snow-covered Himalayan passes. Others will swim the mighty Indus and traverse the arid Sind Desert. The messages will he handed to the Governor, Sir Herbert Emerson, Chief Provincial Scout, who will send them to the King by air mail. SALVATION ARMY PROPOSED PROCESSION COLOMBO. March -1 According to General Evangeline Booth, who lias reached Colombo on her way to Australia, the Salvation Army has asked for permission to hold a great procession past Buckingham Palace on the occasion of the King's Silver Jubilee.
