BYRD EXPEDITION
BHIPS SAIL TO-MORROW DEATHS AMONG PENGUINS [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPOXPENT] DUNEDIN, Monday According to present arrangements, the Byrd Expedition ships Jacob Ruppert and Bear of Oakland are expected to leave Dunedin on their homeward voyage at noon on Wednesday. Tho vessels will proceed in company to Easter Island, where they' will take shelter while the Bear of Oakland is coaled from the Jacob Ruppert. They will then sail independently for Panama, where they will meet and set off together on the last stage of their voyage to New York.
x Twenty Adele Land and 17 Emperor penguins were brought from Little America by the expedition, but unfortunately 12 of the former have died since their arrival in Dunedin. While the Emperor penguins are quite contented in their new quarters, the birds of the other variety have fretted and it appears there will be difficulty in j landing any of tbem alive in America.
