FISHING AT TAUPO
SEVERAL GOOD CATCHES IDEAL CONDITIONS PREVAIL [by telegraph—own'correspondent] TAUPO, Monday A largo number of anglers made the most of the ideal conditions prevailing yesterday and several good catches were obtained. Messrs. Gijberd, of Napier, and Blake, of Taupo, fly fishing from the launch Sunbeam at the niouth of the stream in Whekaipo Bay last evening, landed a total of 21 trout, all in good condition. Two parties of Australian visitors were out in the launch Romance for short trips to the vicinity of Four Mile Bay and returned with 12 fish, while on Friday Commander Bingley, fishing from the same launch, caught 17 fish. Numbers of fly fishermen visited streams between Taupo and TaurangaTaupo, and at the latter spot Mr. Gordon Bridson, of Auckland, and Mr. W. Beaumont Orr, of Taupo, were rewarded with good sport. A total of 20 rods made conditions rather congested at Waitahanui, but, nevertheless, quite fair catches were obtained.
