Thursday f Those of the Franconia's passengers who came overlaud from Auckland and had an -opportunity of trying Lake Taupo are warm in their praises of the sport offering. The biggest rainbow trout caught by the party was an eiglitpo'inder. One of the visiting anglers said that he was glad to have had the experience of catching I ho finest trout in. his life. "Some of our lake fish —brown trout — run lip to te:impounds, but they are not regarded as sporting fish," he said. The main trout streams in the States needed a rest of several seasons.
Another member of the party said fishiiig in Mew Zealand was a more comfortable process than in the States. Apart from the better sport offering, the water ipas not so cold, and the facilities were excellent. The party was greatly impressed by their visit to Waitomo Caves and the thermal regions.
