COLLEGE STEEPLECHASES
SACRED HEART EVENTS GOOD EFFORT BY F. RESPINGER Favoured by splendid conditions, the annual steeplechases of the Sacred Heart College were decided yesterday, the three events, senior, intermediate and junior, !ittracting a total entry of approximately !!EO. Over an exacting course, the majority of the runners revealed fine form and competition was very keen between the lespective houses. The winner of the» senior event was F. Respinger, of Lenihan House, who ran well over a distance oi three and tliree-quartsr miles to clock 23m 3!!s. which also Rniricd him fastest time honours. The intermediate event over a similar distance was won by F. Hogan, Coolahan House, while amciriK the juniors who raced over one and a-hilf miles, J. Peck proved successful. The steeplechases a:e the first events in the annual athletic competition among '.he various houses. The joints gained in yesterday's races were as follows:—Lenih in, CG; Coolahan, 43; Basil, 28; Pompallier, IG. Following were the detailed results:— Senior Event.—R. Respinger (Lenihar), }m, 1; E.
