AN ELECTOR'S CLAIM
Sir, —The Auckland Electric-Power Board hold elections from time to time. The last one was to fill an extraordinary vacancy. 1 am a ratepayer taking an interest in all things. I go up to Manurewa twice weekly, and walk. The distance covers three miles all told, i have inv set days for doing so, and if the election is on an off day to me, being without a car or horse. 1 am compelled to stay at home and not vote. Now, when the Power Board is so well off, why does it not hire a taxi for the occasion and help the foot passengers, as is done in many parts of New Zealand. Last time 1 voted I walked both ways and the heel of my shoes came off. I have decided from now on that unless the Electric-Power Board sends a conveyance for me 1 strongly refuse to vote. Interested.
