MAIN TRUNK ROUTES HEARING OF APPLICATIONS RESUMPTION POSTPONED BOARD AWAITING INFORMATION [BY TELEGRAPH —SPECIAL REPORTER] WELLINGTON, Wednesday It is officially stated that the adjourned sittings of the Transports Coordination Board for the purpose of hearing further evidence concerning main trunk air-service applications will not be held next Wednesday as originally intended. It is found that the additional information called for by the board from the Transport and other departments is not in a sufficiently complete stage for the board's purposes. The departments chiefly concerned in various phases of commercial aviation are Defence, with respect to certificates of airworthiness, licencing of aerodromes, ground equipment, etc., Public Works, as the department responsible for directing the construction of all aerodromes, whether local body or Government; Post and Telegraph, in so far as mail services are concerned; Meteorological, with regard to special weather reports; and Transport, as the department required by statute to furnish reports for the information and consideration of the Transport Co-ordin-ation Board when dealing with applications for commercial aircraft-service licences. Hitherto there has been no machinery by which departmental information and action could be co-ordinated, but steps are being taken to bring together representatives of the several departments within the next few days and from time to time as circumstances necessitate. This should be of the greatest value in the formulation of special reports in which would be concentrated the knowledgo and experience of the departments concerned with the various phases of aviation.
