GREAT SOUTH ROAD WORK REMOVING DUST NUISANCE Work in connection with the sealing of the main highway between Hamilton and Ngaruawahia is proceeding favourably and soon a sealed surface will be provided from the Hamilton borough bouftdary to the northern end of the long straight through the Te Rapa settlement. Further earthworks in connection with deviations have been completed north of this section and it is anticipated that within the near future a further long length of the road will be reformed, metalled and ready for sealing. Motorists are reminded by the Automobile Association that a speed limit of 25 miles per hour has been declarer on the metalled portion of the road which has been prepared for sealing. The object of imposing this speed limit is not to harass motorists, but is to protect the prepared road so as to ensure that road ysers in the future will secure a finished surface that will bo satisfactory and will stand up to tho demands of traffic. A portion of tho Huntly borough is also to be re-scaled and this work should be put in hand in the near future. The dust nuisance through the 'l'irau township is to receive attention and about a mile of highway in this district will be tarred immediately. Motorists will also welcome the news supplied by the Automobilo Association that a further two miles on the Mamaku Hills are to be permanently surfaced. The inconvenience and danger experienced from driving through clouds of dust on the Mamaku during the past summer has been commented on by numerous motorists. The Automobile Association made special representations with regard to this road to the Main Highways Board on its recent visit to Auckland. An additional two miles of the Putaruru highway is also be finished with a sealed Surface, and this work will be put in hand before the winter. Work in connection with the provision of a dustless surface through the Te Kuiti borough has also been commenced. The section under attention is on the southern end of the town.
