PROFIT ON TENNIS TOUR
RECORD AUCKLAND TAKINGS JUNIOR TEAM FOR AUSTRALIA [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Wednesdoy Details of the substantial profit which accrued to the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association as the result of the English team's tour were given at to-night's quarterly meeting . of the council of the association by Mr. A. G. Henderson, the chairman of the management committee. The profit, he said, was approximately £SOO to the New Zealand Association and £4OO to the local associations. ' The gate takings at the Dominion championship tournament held at Auckland, amounting to about £550, were a record for any tournament in New Zealand. The big gate was, no doubt, due to the draw that Perry was. The tour of Ewen and Kay, continued Mr. Henderson, although of benefit to the minor associations, was very poor from the financial viewpoint. He announced that a team of junior players under the age of 21 would be sent to Australia next year. It was uncertain yet whether the team would inelude girls as well as boys.
