CRICKET IN BRITAIN
NEW ZEALAND PLAYER ENGAGEMENT BY COUNTY LONDON, Feb. 25 K. C. James, the New Zealand wicketkeeper, who played for Blackpool last year, will qualify for Northamptonshire and play in county cricket. In the meantime he is coaching young Northants players. James was a member of the 192/ and 1931 New Zealand teams which Visited England. He has five centuries to his credit in Plunket Shield cricket. S. G. Smith, the well-known Auckland representative, formerly played for Northants, which finished last in the 1934 championship- Leading Northants players were J. E. Timms, A. H. Bakewell, A. W. Snowden (1934) and V. W. C. Jupp (1933) and the Test bowler E. W. Clark (fast left-bander).
