COMMONS PASS VOTE AMOUNT OVER £2,000,000 OVERWHELMING MAJORITY (JReceived February 26. 7.5 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 25 Speaking in the House of Commons the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. W. E. Elliot, said he in no way apologised for introducing a supplementary estimate of £2,146,300 for the cattle subsidy, to cover the interim while the Government grappled with the large, involved problem. Mr. J. Henderson Stewart (Liberal —East Fife) asked Mr. Elliot to issue a White Paper indicating his general objective regarding agriculture generally and meat particularly. The vote was carried by 148 votes to 41.
