PAST YEAR'S OPERATIONS

I BY TELEGRAPH —OWN COB RESPONDENT] THAMES, Tuesday : The annual meeting of subscribers and members of the Thames School of Mines was held last evening, Mr. C. S. Donovan presiding over a fair attendance. , Ihe report stated th?t the number of students showed an increase on that of the previous year; the average attendances in the first term being 117, second term 95, and third term 93, The battery and treatment plant had been almost continuously engaged throughout the year,/151 parcels of general ore, representing 663 tons, having been crushed and treated for a return of 1013oz. 19dwt. of bullion, value*! at £3545. In addition, 3731b. of picked stone and 6cwt. of concentrates yielded 128oz. 16dwt. of bullion, valued at £441, while the prospectors' mill had treated 6 tons for a return of 290z. 14dwt. of bullion, valued at £124. The council had under consideration the question of remodelling and enlarging the present plant, and with this in view it had appointed a special committee to -go into the question and submit a report. During the year the assaying and analytical department had made 2336 gold and silver assays. The president, vice-presidents and nine members of the council were reelected unopposed. The president's medal for the dux of the school was awarded to J. Galloway, and the Albert Bruce memorial medal for excellence of work was won by E. W. S. Henderson.
